In Suit Session 5, Jessica spoke true, an ambition that will make us become more distant from other people, especially children from parents. Moral questions that the audience was asked to face week after week is how far down the rabbit hole they're willing to go with the main character? Is Walter let Jane die push you on the edge of likability? Are Jacks kill innocent members of the club taking things too far? It's not a question that came up with a simple answer, but usually, the answer is complex forms of black and white because, in the end, the people we asked to judge the "bad" guy ... but what if they do not? What if this person only feels guilty though whether or not it is the reality of the situation? What if we had to find compassion for behavior that is not morally wrong at all, but it's still questionable as to how to make other people feel? This is what the audience was asked to question in "Denial."
When Donna throws a realistic option which includes remaining as employees for two weeks to ease the transition to the new secretary, he just scoffs at the idea and orders her to leave much like the way a child after will not receive a trip to the zoo and reject the consolation prize of a cone ice cream from a mother who cares. What he is doing is understandable considering the things we know about Harvey Specter, but there is no way to support it given the way the force Donna felt at the time, and at a later date. Harvey said things in that scene are the things being said by someone who cares about one thing: a normal, attractive given line in the work of Harvey.
While Game of Thrones got to rely on dragons, magic and death to be a big hole, Suits find a way to do that in an office setting is limited and the location of the shoots on Toronto restaurants. Somehow, though five seasons in, Suits has found a way to drastically change the status quo of the main characters in a way that could force the audience to think differently about him, perhaps for the first time. How much we can support Harvey if he was willing to wait six weeks before even trying to find a new secretary? Does he even have, had a list yet complete and no errors have occurred? This is something worth pondering.
Instead, we lost time with them in order to spend with Harvey. Fortunately, the plot Harvey dynamic enough to be worth stealing screen time from other places, but that does not mean it went unnoticed.
A shake Harvey is we have not seen before. We have seen he believes the next step, and we have seen him desperate to win, but we never saw him confused. Panic attacks are not the kind of thing anyone would have ever expected to be a character believably could go without significantly affecting the quality of the series as a whole. However, he, and somehow managed to set us on a journey that should lead to one heck of a run summer to play the United States. Let's just hope we get to see a lot more advanced than the rest of the ensemble.
